Lorie Wadsworth

Lorie Wadsworth is a Pacific Northwest artist whose work is rooted in direct observation, whether painting from life in the studio or working outdoors in nature. She has spent the last year studying with master artist Ned Mueller while also deepening her portraiture practice through ongoing self-study and specialized workshops.

Lorie’s formal art education includes coursework in design, drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, art history, and photography at Clatsop Community College in Astoria, Oregon. She has also studied creative writing, graphic arts, and journalism at the Community College of Southern Nevada, anatomy and physiology at Rogue River Community College in Grants Pass, Oregon, and silversmithing at Centralia College in Washington, all of which inform her thoughtful approach to structure, narrative, and form.

Her work has been recognized with multiple awards over several decades, including Best in Show for her clay sculpture *Man vs Nature* at a judged exhibition at Clatsop Community College in Astoria, Oregon, as well as honors from Trails End Art exhibits and the ARTrails of Southwest Washington Gala Exhibition. That same clay sculpture, *Man vs Nature*, is part of the permanent collection at Clatsop Community College.

Lorie’s creative practice extends into public and community-based art. Her mixed media triptych *Diving In/River Bound/Hidden Sea Glass* has been installed at the Children’s Art Museum in Olympia, Washington, and her painted bench *Good Morning to Ewe* was featured in a citywide public art installation in Chehalis, Washington. Through these projects and her studio work, she continues to explore the living presence of the human figure and the natural world.
