ARTIST STATEMENT

In the Ideals of You Series, I explore the way in which black and white and color photographs can relate when layered - simultaneously masking, revealing and strengthening one another. I create these pieces by printing digital color images, applying liquid emulsion, exposing a black and white negative onto the coated surface and then developing the print through the traditional darkroom process. Through this intensive process, I aim to combine images that create a new visual experience and reflect my attempts to mask, merge and bring to light various aspects of what I view as my self.
